COVID-19 Guidelines & Swim Policy Update

posted in: General, Swim | 0

Dear Fairbrae Members,

We hope that you are all healthy and enjoyed your Thanksgiving weekend! This message will serve as a brief update on the new Santa Clara County orders that came into effect Monday, November 30th at 12:01 AM.

  • There are new restrictions on outdoor recreation specific to contact sports. Both swimming and tennis are explicitly permitted under this order. As a result, there are no changes necessary for reservations for both the pool and tennis courts at Fairbrae under the new order. Please continue practicing physical distancing while using the athletics facilities.
  • Santa Clara County is also issuing a Mandatory Directive on Travel, which strongly discourages leisure and non-essential travel, and requires persons entering the county to quarantine for 14 days upon return from travel of more than 150 miles. Please make note of the new directive, and plan your visits to Fairbrae accordingly.

In addition to the county directive, there have also been a few tweaks made to Fairbrae policies that have been made based on recent usage statistics:

  • Due to significantly decreased demand for family swim during the cooler winter months, family swim is now available only during the weekends, from 9 am to 10 pm. If you’d like to swim with your family during other times, you may still do so by using the lap swim reservation system.
  • The current 8 pm and 9 pm time slots for pool use are now “flex” pool hours. These flex hours give members the flexibility to swim later if desired, and the club the ability to save on operational costs if the pool is not in use. The pool will close early if no reservations are made within a half-hour of the earliest flex time-slot without reservations. For example, if by 8:30 pm there are no reservations for the 9:00 pm hour, the 9:00 lanes will be closed for that day. Such early closings are only made on a day-to-day basis.

As a final friendly reminder, all members are required to wear facial coverings when present at the club. These coverings are required in transit both to and from the pool or tennis courts and the front entrance. Please do your part to make everyone feel comfortable at the club.

Thank you and wishing you all the best!
